Effect of outpatient management flow optimization in improvement of ultrasound report quality

To explore the effect of outpatient management flow optimization in the improvement of ultrasound report quality.
From January 2017 to June 2019, some changes relying on information platforms were made to improve ultrasound reports in Department of Ultrasound, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, including upgrading of ultrasonic image storage and transmission system, introducing clinical supervision, forming an integrated referral system, and building a high resolution medical image remote display system. The improvement of department report quality after process optimization was analyzed. Before and after the optimization (second half of 2016 and second half of 2019), clinical satisfaction was evaluated by t test.
After the process optimization, more than 99% of the patients could get high-quality reports in their outpatient units. In 2018 and 2019, 6683 outpatients got more valuable reports through the referral system. One hundred and twenty-five patients with rare and challenging diseases had a distant consultant in 2019. According to the data of the second half year of 2016 and 2019, after optimizing outpatient management flow, the clinical satisfaction score was 96.71±0.21, which was significantly higher than that before (93.68±0.30, t=32.132, P<0.001).
Process optimization can achieve the comprehensive improvement of the quality and efficiency of ultrasound medical services, clinical and patients' satisfaction, and so on.
