Abstract:

In order to establish a set of practical, efficient, and standardized ultrasound report templates suitable for general hospitals, the necessity of drafting standardized ultrasound report templates and associated issues were identified through a questionnaire survey. Based on ultrasound report templates copied from the ultrasound imaging workstation (Picture Archiving and Communication System, PACS) of more than ten hospitals and materials from ultrasound reporting books, subspecialty ultrasound report templates were drafted from the perspective of ultrasound request forms, ultrasound examination findings, and ultrasound reports. Expert groups for ultrasound subspecialties were established. The expert groups discussed and modified the content of all report templates for common diseases with different severity levels. Each ultrasound report template was then reviewed and rectified by an ultrasound subspecialty expert review team and the final ultrasound report templates were established. Based on the input format of ultrasound PACS reporting systems, combined with the anatomical structure examined and the number of report templates, a folder system was created to store ultrasound report templates. After trial and optimization, the final version of the ultrasound report templates was developed. A set of ultrasound report templates covering seven subspecialties of abdominal, superficial organs, vascular, gynecology, obstetrics, cardiac, and musculoskeletal ultrasounds was developed. The templates were categorized under seven folders. Within these seven folders, there were 20 or less subfolders. Twenty or less ultrasound report templates were stored within each subfolder. After entering the ultrasound PACS, any report template could be opened by three mouse clicks. This is a set of practical, efficient, leading and standardized ultrasound report templates applicable to general hospitals.
