Abstract:

Objective

To discuss the value of fast rotary scanning method in observing standard sections of fetal echocardiography.

Methods

Fifty-nine students attending the medium and long term training course of fetal echocardiography in Shaanxi Province in 2019 received theory and operation training of the fast rotary scanning method. Before and after the training, double-blind examination of standard section operation in fetal echocardiography was performed. The paired samples Wilcoxon signed rank test was performed to compare test scores, and the chi-square test was used to compare the number of people who obtained sections before and after training. Finally, the application effect of the fast rotary scanning method was evaluated.

Results

After training, the score of overall assessment of fetal echocardiography standard section, section image score, and completion time score were significantly improved compared with those before training [81 (57, 89) vs 33 (28, 74); 43 (39, 44) vs 33 (28, 43); 41 (16, 46) vs 0 (0, 31); Z=-6.688, -6.074, and -5.988, respectively; P<0.001 for all]. For the sections of the pulmonary artery, aortic arch, aortic axis, and long axis of the superior and inferior vena cava, the number of trainees who obtained all sections after the training was significantly more than that before training (59 vs 49, 59 vs 46, 55 vs 21, 51 vs 30, 59 vs 43, χ2=10.9926, 14.610, 42.734, 17.363, and 18.510, P=0.001, <0.001, <0.001, <0.001, and <0.001, respectively). After the training, the number of trainees who obtained all sections of the section within the specified time of the assessment also increased significantly (≤3 min: 17 vs 0; ≤10 min: 47 vs 21; χ2=19.861 and 23.461, respectively, P<0.001 for both).

Conclusion

The fast rotary scanning method can obviously improve the efficiency of obtaining standard sections in fetal echocardiography, which has great significance for fetal heart ultrasound examination.
