Abstract:

Objective

To evaluate the application effect of PDCA procedure of standardized medical quality management in ultrasound department.

Methods

The PDCA procedure was applied on the medical quality management of ultrasound department. The changes of ultrasound report score and clinical satisfaction were evaluated before and after the implementation of the PDCA procedure. Twenty abdominal ultrasound examination reports issued by residents with less than 3 years of experience were randomly selected in the second half of 2017 and the second half of 2014 in the ultrasound Picture Archiving and Communication System, and the head of the abdominal professional group conducted blind evaluation and scoring of the ultrasound reports; the clinical satisfaction data in the second half of 2017 were reviewed with the data in the second half of 2014 before the implementation of PDCA procedure. The scores of the ultrasound reports and the clinical satisfaction in the second half of 2017 and the second half of 2014 were compared by Student's t test.

Results

After the implementation of PDCA procedure, the ultrasound report score was (93.6±1.5) points, which was significantly higher than that before PDCA procedure was applied [(87.9±2.0) points, t=2.251, P=0.029]. The clinical satisfaction was (93.0±0.6) points, which was also significantly higher than that before PDCA procedure was applied [(90.1±1.5) points, t=-5.078, P=0.007].

Conclusion

The PDCA procedure of standardized medical quality management can improve the ultrasound report score and clinical satisfaction effectively, which is an effective way to ensure and improve the quality of ultrasound medical service.
