Abstract:

Objective

To assess the diagnostic value of ultrasonography in the prenatal diagnosis of fetal annular pancreas.

Methods

The prenatal ultrasonographic and clinical data of 13 pregnant women with fetal annular pancreas confirmed by surgery at Shandong Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2019 to April 2021 were retrospectively analyzed, and the ultrasonic characteristics of fetal annular pancreas were summarized.

Results

In the 13 cases of fetal annular pancreas, the double bubble sign and windsail sign were visualized in all cases, the clamp-like sign was seen in 3 cases, amniotic fluid increased in 9 cases, and the beak sign was present in 7 cases. All infants underwent neonatal surgery immediately after birth and achieved favorable outcomes. Among them, there were 2 cases complicated with duodenal atresia and 1 case complicated with atypical malrotation.

Conclusion

Identification of the clamp-like sign and the beak sign and observation of the relationship between the dilated end of the duodenum and the pancreas head improve the accuracy of ultrasound diagnosis of suspected fetal annular pancreas, which is of great value in the prenatal diagnosis of fetal annular pancreas.
